We are here to do 2 things: Watch 80's and 90's movies and come up with the sole reason why this movie is a classic. We are doing this thing tournament style and breaking our movie bracket into 4 divisions. Each author will enter their choices for each division and through discussions and eliminations they will figure out that singular part of the movie that truly explains its true essence and why its a classic. Ladies and Gentlemen we give you the "Tournament of Rad"
Airplane! Final 4
Airplane! Final 4
If you are wondering how we got to these four picks read Round 1
Airplane! Tournament of Rad
Charactervs. Scenes Region
A crotchety old man who has seen it all vs. two guys that can only converse with each other. McCroskey has a drug abuse problem and the Jive Talking Guy has his own problems like "S'mofo butter layin' me to da' BONE! Jackin' me up... tight me!" But there can only be one to advance.
Winner: Jive Talking
McCroskey is a great character, he is off the wall crazy and gives us more than enough laughs to hold us over. The Jive talk scenes however are just so perfect and off the wall that they stick in our minds and leave us laughing for days. Plus, if you use these lines on people who don't speak jive, you'll sound cool! Leg 'er down a smack 'em yak 'em!
Moments vs Lines Region
Both of these involve dealing with substance abuse issues and the struggles of quitting. But in the Tournament of Rad there can be only one that advances.
Winner: I picked the wrong week to stop...
Because of the diversity and expandability of the 'Looks like I picked the wrong week' lines, it gives us infinite possibilities to continue using this line and laughing. You can use it with stuff from today and it still works, watch: "Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop dipping molly" or "Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop taking selfies." It works on so many levels.
